ST FRANCIS will celebrate National Shavathon on Saturday where the main activities, including the shaving and colouring of hair, will be held in the Village Centre.
Activities will kick off with an early morning walk between Port St Francis and the Village, starting at 8am.
Participants must register at the Shop @ The Port at Port St Francis where they will each receive a candle. Walkers can choose between the Two Harbour walk or walking down St Francis Drive.
The finish line is at Euro Café where the candles can be lit. The entry fee is a donation.
The activities at the Village Centre parking area will officially be opened with a parade by the St Kromme Sea Cadets.
A donation of R50 will be charged to have your hair shaved or sprayed. Kids pay R25. If you do not have the courage, just pay the bail out fee of R50!
By 11am there will be a cook-off between six executive chefs. Each will prepare a potjie to be enjoyed for lunch, but they will also receive a mystery box as part of the challenge.
Bring your bicycle for a slow bike race – the aim is to find the slowest cyclist over 100 metres. The winner will be the last to cross the finish line.
To end the fun-filled day, cyclists can move over to the St Francis Links where a winter day and night ride and run will be held, all on paved roads.
Registration starts at 4pm. The day ride starts at 4.30pm followed by the run at 4.45pm. The ride is over a 5km loop. The aim is to see who can finish the most laps in an hour. This is great fun and remember, headlamps are compulsory. The entry fee is R60 for adults and R40 for all u-17s. A portion of the fees will be donated to the Shavathon.
