FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHO MAY ENTER?

Entrants must have been married any time between January 1 to December 31, 2013, and live in The Herald circulation area. They may marry elsewhere, but have to live in our region. Entries will close in February 2014 (date TBA). There is no age limit and it may be a second marriage.

WHAT SORT OF PHOTOGRAPH IS SUITABLE?

Send only one photo showing faces of bride and groom clearly. We are looking for a couple with a special sparkle, who are attractive but not necessarily beautiful and who look radiant and happy on their wedding day. Due to our space restrictions, a close up photograph is more likely to be used than one that shows more background detail.

A colour photograph is preferable. Photographs may be in print or digital format, and the latter must be submitted electronically. Prints are not returned so make sure you don't send in your only copy. Portrait shaped pictures display better online.

WHAT INFORMATION MUST WE SUPPLY?

Bride and groom's first and second names (including the bride's maiden name), home address, daytime contact phone numbers, date and place of wedding, and name of photographer. Family details are optional.

WILL MY PICTURE BE PUBLISHED IN THE HERALD?

PRINT: The Herald will carry a selection of entrants photographs as and when space permits. Only a small percentage of the entrants will have their photograph published, and entering the competition does not guarantee publication in the paper. The photographs are placed at the discretion of the editor and are selected at random from entries received.

ONLINE: All entry photographs that qualify are posted to The Herald website, www.peherald.com. A selection are also posted to the Lafemme Herald Facebook page.

WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?

Prizes will be announced closer to close of entry. Traditionally, prizes are given to the top 12 couples selected, with the winner having the best prize package. The winning bride and groom also are invited to model their wedding outfits at The Herald La Femme Bridal Fair, which traditionally takes place the last weekend of May.

HOW IS THE COMPETITION JUDGED?

Judging will cover all entries the entire year, so every entrant has the same chance. Not only published pictures are eligible, but every entrant.

All photographs received by the closing date (still to be announced) will go through an initial sifting to 50 emi-finalists. This will then be narrowed down to 12 finalists to be invited to a function for final "meet and greet” judging.

WHEN DO WE HEAR WHO WON?

The Herald will announce the winners in print.
