Salga comes to the aid of beleaguered municipality

THE mother body of municipalities, Salga, has vowed to take the plight of theNelson Mandela Bay Municipality to the national government in a bid to restore administrative stability.

The national executive committee of the SA Local Government Association (Salga) was in Nelson Mandela Bay on Tuesday and yesterday to provide guidance and support to the municipality.

While the committee acknowledged progress had been made in delivering services, it said the municipality faced challenges including political instability, mayoral committee members not attending meetings, the absence of a municipal manager and executive directors, and a lack of capacity to deal with high-profile disciplinary cases.
