Toilet paper shortage hits public loos

A SHORTAGE of toilet paper poses a threat to Nelson Mandela Bay's hosting of festive season activities as public bathrooms and ablution facilities around the Bay may be shut as early as next week.

At a Beachfront Safety Sector Forum (BSSF) meeting earlierthis week, municipal public health officials said they would be forced to close public toilets – including at taxi ranks, municipal buildings and beachfront facilities – to stop the public using materials which could block the sewerage system.

BSSF administrator and Ward 1 councillor Stanford Slabbert said attempts to get clarity from the municipal supply chain management (SCM) official responsible for supplying toilet paper, Sox Nkanjeni, had fallen on deaf ears.

Is that a wise move??? Won't this promote public indecency, where people relieve themselves anywhere if they can't find a suitable place to relive themselves???
