THE Chevrolet Warriors slipped to the bottom of the Momentum One-Day Cup cricket standings after suffering an agonising five-run defeat against the Titans at Axxess St George's yesterday.
It was the Warriors' third defeat in five matches but so thin is the line, that if they had won yesterday, they would have climbed into second position.
Setting a challenging 274 for victory, a defiant eight-wicket partnership of 62 between Craig Thyssen (42) and Basheer Walters (13 not out) had got them as close as needing nine off the final over bowled by Rowan Richards (3/49). The pair got it down to six needed off two but Thyssen holed out to Henry Davids in the deep in a gallant attempt to clear the boundary.
