Three Bay schools sue MEC for R500 000

THREE Nelson Mandela Bay schools are taking the Eastern Cape Education Department to court today for about R500 000 they claim the department owes them for temporary teachers’ salaries.

Despatch High School, DF Malherbe High School and Frans Conradie Primary School are among the 56 Eastern Cape schools fighting the department over the issue of temporary teachers since January last year.

Only the three schools are appearing in the Port Elizabeth High Court today. The rest will go to court next year.
