PE’s matric pass rate improves slightly

THERE were scenes of jubilation and, in some cases, devastation at schools across the province yesterday as pupils found out how they fared in their matric exams.

Bucking a downward trend in recent years, the Port Elizabeth district scored a 71.1% pass rate, up 3.3 percentage points on last year.

Some schools yielded vastly improved results, while some poor performers remained at the bottom of the pile.
