When it comes to political power-mongering and the resultant path to immense wealth, he seems to know what he is doing. Hence the appointments, throughout the government, of people of like ilk.
They all forget the point of service to the people who elected them to power. As the saviour of this country – Nelson Mandela, who else? – made it plain, he is a servant.
Jacob Zuma carried on putting his rather large foot in his equally large mouth: "The president called on blacks to stop adopting the habits of other cultures and described people who loved dogs more than people as ‘having a lack of humanity’.”
I am proud to claim that I fall under that lack of humanity, since I most certainly love dogs more than people. Animals – specifically dogs – do not lie, cheat, steal, murder and the 101 things that characterise the human race.
Animals want only one thing, unconditional love, which they return to their owners in abundance. And the president thinks that people are better than animals?
