AFTER a short Christmas break, the Safa Eastern Cape Second Division soccer league will be in full swing this weekend.
The league took a four-week break over the festive season and clubs took stock of how the season had unfolded, while also looking ahead to the new year.
Port Elizabeth outfits Bay Stars and Highbury will return to action this weekend as the league attempts to make up for lost time. Second-placed Stars trail Mthatha Bucks by a point, while struggling Highbury are third from the bottom, with two points after eight games. Stars have the ability to topple Bucks from the top of the table since they have seasoned players in Siyabulela Songwiqi, Lyle Peters, Orlin Powell and goalkeeper Sheldon Baatjies, who all have PSL experience.
