Concern over slow sale of Afcon tickets

THE countdown to the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) continues – and with only 13 days left it is all systems go for Nelson Mandela Bay which will host group stage matches.

City officials and other tourism stakeholders have been working tirelessly to promote the event. The Bay will be hosting Ghana, Mali, Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo in the group stages.

The municipality's 2013 Afcon project coordinator, Jomo Mkhathu, said the local organising team were on track with preparations for the tournament, although they were concerned about the slow pace of ticket sales.
