SAFETY ON OUR ROADS
ONLY one lonely traffic cop was spotted at Kinkelbos on Sunday between Kenton and the city. Who cares?

MORE HOOLIGAN DADS
WHY is the father who shot his wife in front of their five-year-old not a hooligan as well (featured on page 5 of The Herald of January 3). Why do you discriminate?
MOLLEY
YOU’RE right, Molley, they’re both hooligans. However, as a regional newspaper, The Herald generally highlights local issues over national stories. – The editor
REPLIES TO READERS’ COMMENTS
LAST year Dr S Chetty’s surgery was up for sale with everything. This year’s advert shows he is open for patients. What now? It makes us confused although he is a good doctor. Please help.

I AGREE with Observer (about random drug testing), but they rather encourage them. That’s why we test all our athletes during competitions.

KEEP up the good work, Daron Mann. DMB appeals to the more intelligent sector of the Eastern Cape.
K JOHNS
MM, you are a muppet. Tony Greig was awesome and a great ambassador for South Africa. May he rest in peace.
CRICKET FAN
PEOPLE, don’t blame the taxis. We all do not own cars. Let’s all be more safety conscious on the roads.
KEITH
CAPTIVE animals: D Johnson, I too am haunted by that bear’s eyes from so long ago. Can picture him still.

PRESIDENT’S CONTOVERSIAL VIEWS ON DOGS
IF Jacob Zuma wants to decolonialise he must sell his jet, car, electrical appliances and cellphone, and go back to his roots like King Shaka.
DOC
PEOPLE are still complaining about President Zuma’s comments. Get a life and stop complaining. I take it this is also part of white culture, good at complaining.
BREBO
HEY Mr President, if dogs are white people’s culture to take care of, why are there only black street children?
INTERESTED
MR Zuma, the real dog haters in this country are the criminals. ‘Nuff said.
JJ OSSHER
TALKING about differences in salaries, Jacob Zuma and many others are also top earners!
SARA
ZUMA is quite right about the inequality between black and white households. Nkandla is much fancier than my little house!

EC EDUCATION
"TOE the line, Kiviet tells Sadtu”: 35:1 ratio will never be achieved! You deploy when the problem is overcrowding, it’s 60:1 in public schools. The exams department requires 30:1, but teachers are expected throughout the year to do miracles with 49:1. Be consistent with policy enforcement. Former Model C schools will achieve 100% pass rates as they don’t have more than 30:1 so kids get quality and not quantity education.
CONCERNED
A FIFTH of matrics excelled. Obviously not in maths – what happened to the other 38.4%?
DAVE S
THE 38.4% did not pass the matric examinations. A fifth of those who passed excelled. – The editor
ACTION plans for schools: whoopee Mr Ngonzo! However please first provide the (competent) teachers for those classrooms you want to transform!

NOT IMPRESSED BY NAKED SKIERS
WHO do naked Kowie River skiers want to impress? All of us are naked and a naked person in public is ugly! All I can say is "Ag shame, grow up!”
SHIRLEY
DEPRAVED naked skiers on Kowie River: are they sober when they do this? A family tradition nogal! Glad I did not witness such a sick spectacle!

TERRIBLE STINK ON KINGS BEACH
THERE’s a hazard endangering people’s health! Since the weekend something has been burning. Is it the municipal rubbish dump? Now there is a stink on Kings Beach. Terrible. Port Elizabeth is now the stinky city too.

THE HERALD OVER THE FESTIVE SEASON
I AM also an invalid. Please change the size of the daily issues for us. It will be such a pleasure!
TABLOID FAN
THE Herald and Weekend Post over the holiday season were sub standard. The electronic version I think was a waste of even posting.
