THE Weekend men's and women's leagues kick off this weekend, with new format of fours, trips and pairs. This is the premier competition on the EP bowls calendar.
Men's first league champions Mill Park are at home to Walmer CC and women's holders Walmer Bowling Club are away to PEBC.
The first league fixtures are, men: Mill Park v WCC, The Woods v Park Drive, Despatch v Walmer, Jeffreys Bay v Port Elizabeth, Western Suburbs v Westview. Women: Port Elizabeth v Walmer, PE Moth v Jeffreys Bay, The Woods v WCC, Western Suburbs v Mill Park, Westview v Summerwood.
THE programme at Summerwood this week is:
tomorrow (Thursday): mixed social 8.45; Saturday: leagues as per EP fixture list and mixed social 1.45; Monday: men 1.45; Tuesday: women 1.45. Visitors and prospective members are welcome at all playing sessions.
THERE is Wednesday morning mixed bowls at Park Drive, tabs in 9am. Visitors welcome. Other Park Drive playing sessions are: Tuesday 2pm, Saturday 2pm, Sunday 9.15am, and public holidays 9am. Visitors, prospective members and new bowlers welcome.
The Park Drive Sundowner pairs resumes tomorrow. Park Drive members are reminded that subs are due before the end of January.
There is bingo at Park Drive on Tuesday (6pm). All welcome.
THE week's events at PEBC are:
Today: Afternoon tabs in bowls.
Tomorrow: Chicken and wine tabs in mixed trips, tabs in 1.45pm.
Friday: New competition commences; Bob Mott's Friday morning men's drawn pairs competition, tabs in 8.55am. Inquiries: Bob Mott (083-459-1556).
Saturday: Men's league starts. Check notice-board for teams and venues; mixed tabs in for non-league players, tabs in 1.45pm.
Sunday: Tim's untouchables and Steve's kokolollies, arranged games.
Tuesday: Men's arranged pairs resumes (8.45am).
