A PORT Elizabeth man who was allegedly kidnapped while on business in Port Alfred late on Saturday has described the few minutes at the hands of his abductors as "a nightmare".
Thembelani Sogayise, 31, who works for a housing fund business, said he was turning onto the R72 and heading towards a B&B when four men pulled him over at about 10.45pm.
"At first they flickered [their car lights at] me from behind. After I indicated and slightly turned up to head towards the B&B, they passed and cut me off. The two men had guns and ordered me to sit in the back. The other one searched the car. They took the R6000 [company money] and my cellphone. I could smell dagga on one of the men," he said.
"They dropped me off and I walked back to the garage, about 200m away. When I got there I saw the highway patrol and [one of the highway patrol cars] drove to where my car was left.
"It was a nightmare. I didn't expect this to happen while I was in Port Alfred."
Police spokesman Lieutenant Luvuyo Mjekula said a case of kidnapping and armed robbery was being investigated.
