Cricket fever grips city

09 January 2013

CRICKET fever gripped the city yesterday as the South African cricket team flew in to Port Elizabeth ahead of the second test against New Zealand starting at Axxess St George's on Friday.

The Proteas are looking to complete a clean sweep over the Black Caps after their all-conquering performance in the first test at Newlands in Cape Town last week.

They head the series 1-0 and are aiming to wrap up the rubber.

New Zealand also checked into their beachfront hotel yesterday, but whereas they decided to have a quiet afternoon, the South African team wasted no time in getting in a training session at St George's Park.

Proteas spinner Robin Peterson, who will be playing his first test in the city of his birth, said the team were looking forward to vociferous local support.

Unreserved daily seats cost R30 for adults and R15 for pensioners and pupils, while reserved tickets are available at R45 and R60 a day.
