SA hope to conquer PE hoodoo

SOUTH Africa will be looking to rid themselves of a nasty losing streak in Port Elizabeth crickedt tests when they come up New Zealand at Axxess St George’s, starting tomorrow (10.30am).

The Proteas have lost their last three tests at St George’s with their most recent victory here coming against their current opposition, New Zealand, in 2000. Since then they have suffered defeats against England in 2004 and Pakistan and the West Indies, both in 2007.

It is not the kind of record one would associate with the Proteas and it is one that puzzles South Africa vice-captain AB de Villiers.
