Bluewater Bay road race will challenge Christmas couch potatoes

18 January 2013
Neale Emslie

ROADRUNNERS who indulged too freely during the Christmas period will be seriously challenged by Tipper's Creek when the BayFM Bluewater Bay road race takes place tomorrow.

The notorious climb towards the end of this highly popular 15km event, much of which is run along the banks of the Swartkops River, is always a good test of a runner's fitness. If you have enjoyed your holidays, you may find yourself forced into a short walk, but for those with a more diligent regime, the race will come as an excellent challenge.

The runners will line up at 6am for the 15km Participation League event at Bluewater Bay Primary School, while a 5km fun run/walk will set off at 6.30am.

T-shirts, sponsored by the Trink Group, will be given to the first 200 entrants in the 15km event.

There are prizes in the lucky draws, including a weekend for two at the Kuzuko Lodge and three pairs of running shoes.

The cut-off time is 2.15min. Late entries and registration will take place at the Bluewater Bay Primary School hall from 6pm to 7pm today and 5am to 6am tomorrow.
