Big guns expected in Westview event

18 January 2013
Neale Emslie

WESTVIEW are expecting another big entry when they host their annual Open squash tournament from February 4-8.

This event has gained in popularity as it provides early competition for the province's top players in the A section, while those in the lower leagues can compete in singles and doubles events as a team in the B and C sections.

As is normal, there will be no play on the Thursday due to various internal club summer leagues.

In the B and C sections, players enter as a team and their matches consist of a doubles and two singles matches. Instead of continuous scoring as in the past, this year the scoring will be limited to 15 and each game you win gets accumulated to your score. An uncompleted game must have reached a score of eight points to make it a valid game.

In the B section, the league total of two players must not be more than 10, while the league total in the C section must be between 11 and 20. Where teams have a league combination higher than 20, a third singles-doubles section may be considered.
