Stone branches out to ‘city that never sleeps’

JABU Stone is taking a bite out of the Big Apple by launching a branch of his hair salon in New York.

Stone is one of a few African entrepreneurs who have made a fortune out of the lucrative hair business.

Stone, who is originally from King William’s Town, has franchised his salon, which specialises in Afrocentric hairstyles, all over South Africa, including East London, Johannesburg and Cape Town. A branch in Ghana is already operating.

Stone’s concept is all about promoting the crowning glory of African locks from Afro hair treatments to twisting and maintenance treatments for dreadlocks. He is credited with making dreadlocks fashionable and desirable for both men and women.
