St Albans inmate sues prison authorities for a second time

FRESH from winning a R245000 lawsuit against the Department of Correctional Services after being cut in the face by a fellow prisoner, a St Albans inmate has again sued prison authorities – this time for R200000.

Moegamat Fatieg Jaftha claims his finger was broken and he suffered several injuries after being assaulted by guards.

Two months ago he won a landmark ruling making Department of Correctional Services officials responsible for failing to prevent assaults among prisoners.
