Fire guts two classrooms at Bay school

A PRIMARY school in Nelson Mandela Bay has been forced to cram more than 100 pupils into a class after a freak fire gutted two Grade 7 classrooms yesterday.

Chaos and hysteria broke out at Gertrude Shope Primary School in Govan Mbeki township yesterday morning when pupils and teachers noticed smoke coming from one of the classrooms.

Nobody was hurt as the class had been completely evacuated by the time the blaze worsened, causing the roof to collapse.
