Health, dreams of Ironman fatalities revealed

SO determined was East London Ironman fatality Kevin Staessen that he would win the gruelling event that he sent an early morning tweet predicting victory.

"Too early ... Race DAY! Hello #IM703SA , you will be mine by this afternoon!"

Hours later the 29-year-old Johannesburg TV producer and fellow first-time competitor Berton Bosman were dead after the swim section of the Ironman 70.3.

Postmortems were carried out yesterday on Staessen and Bosman, 37, a Pretoria-based chartered accountant who had worked as an audit partner at BDO Auditing and Advisory Services for the past 11 years.
