Wayile turns to Gordhan over Kouga debt

IN a desperate attempt to get the Kouga Municipality to pay R25-million which it owes the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Bay mayor Zanoxolo Wayile has asked Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan to intervene.

The city has been trying for years to get Kouga to pay its bulk water supply bill in full, even going as far as asking Premier Noxolo Kiviet to intervene, but to no effect.

Wayile, in a letter to Gordhan which was supposed to be discussed at a municipal public accounts committee (MPAC) meeting yesterday, asked the minister to solve the recurrent problem.
