Ex-principal tells of defrauding school of R2.5m

THE disgraced former principal of Greenwood Primary School told a court yesterday how he allegedly colluded with a prominent Port Elizabeth lawyer to defraud the school out of more than R2-million.

"I have elected to file this plea of guilty to disclose once and for all what actually happened," former headmaster Patrick Shelver said.

He elected to change his initial plea of not guilty to guilty in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court yesterday, more than three years after the charges first came to light.

The matter continues today.
