Only the insane could manage ‘sick metro’

THE search for the municipal manager for this metro of ours is indicative of what is wrong with our country, particularly our province.

Firstly this province consists of two streams of influence – therefore of progress and development – or none at all (as it would appear in the other stream which I term the Eastern Cape of the province).

The other part is the Eastern Province, this part is rigid, entrenched and steeped in the old order of apartheid, of privilege, unmovable and anything that threatens the status quo is the enemy (sadly too, anything black is the enemy except Mandela).

This stream is inhabited or represented by a workers’ union exclusively white and coloured – Imatu. It may not necessarily be DA but the sentiments are shared and guarded.

They want the black government to fail, they hate change, for change means relinquishing or giving in to blacks or sharing with blacks.

They occupy key departments or areas in the municipality and won’t cede to blacks, they will see that any black mayor fails, they protect their fiefdoms with all means possible.

They would like to see this metro taken over by the DA so they can say blacks are useless.

On the other hand, there is the stream which I call the Eastern Cape of this province of ours. Sadly this side is playing into the hands of the former who are positioned such that all efforts of change and progress are not achieved.

The infighting and the two-pence politicking is not helping matters. The hunger in the stomach and morals makes our province’s municipalities a cesspool. One wonders why wholesale assassinations are not happening in a scale worse than Mpumalanga.

The divided house that rules this part of our land cannot stand for it is divided. Nobody, no sane person is going to want to come to this metro – not unless they are hoping for a handshake six months down the line before the five-year contract is up.

Our metro is sick. The foundations and the fabric soiled with insidious evil and malice in men’s hearts and a superiority complex some will never overcome. This metro should be put under administration as "failed”.

Hey The Ref, I am not playing cards. What I am saying is, I do not see it so much as a Black thing or a White thing. I try to be non racial and believe we should all do so. I am saying we must put the focus onto basic fundamental principles of good governance and management whether done by black or white or anybodyelse, and that is where the ANC are failing.

Pat your last paragraph is correct, the rest only has some truth's. You make out that the whites only want the ANC to fail, We want good governance, good management of all government and municipal assets, good performance and service delivery from these govt and municiplal departments and good management of all the people working there. The ANC is unfortunately ailing to provide those due to bad management which leads to bad service delivery, which results in corruption, non performance etc etc and "therefore" the polorization that you are talking about happens. The ANC themselves are divided and seem, from where I sit, as confused as a bucket full of puke. If they had their act together and applied good governance and management principles service delivery would be there and corruption would suffer. You make out as if it is a black white thing, and you make the same mistake as the ANC by doing so, but you have it wrong it is performance that things get measured on. I think it is the insane that are managing the Metro and that is why it is sick, judging by the death threats, etc.
