IRONMAN FATALITIES

IF IRONMAN officials, after the event, say swimming is the most dangerous part of the triathlon, then why did they not warn athletes of this before the event?

EX-PRINCIPAL DEFRAUDED SCHOOL

PATRICK Shelver knew he was stealing – jail him. We have had enough of this.

PROTESTS

ART, me thinks the kids were among protesters to look and learn how it is done.

AJL

RE POLICE firing rubber bullets at kids: What are four and six-year-old kids doing at a protest?

C INGRAM

MOTHERWELL parents hide behind young children while blocking public roads with burning tyres and then scream police brutality – something not right here!

NF

BURNING tyres and petrol bombs damaging municipal property should be declared a crime.

MIKE

THESE protesters burning down buildings etc: too much freedom in this country. They want to behave like wild animals they should be put down.

SICKnTIRED

THE time has come for the HAVES (mines, farmers, industrialists, etc) to become more than employers to their workers. They should also devise ways and means to become TRUSTED advisors, caretakers and providers of moral support to their employees and their families through employer/worker community programmes to improve the day-to-day lives of families and also to create other financial opportunities for staff. Handcrafts, foodstalls, etc.

JB FROM PE

FREE State protest is disgraceful and uncivilised. Sies. Not a proud South African – and I’m not the only one.

LIVINGSTONE HOSPITAL

I also waited in vain in Livingstone casualty unit for over five hours with my sick and ailing mother, only for her to die without any form of assistance. Do not use Livingstone if you need help, you too might die first.

PIET NAUDE’S COLUMN

I READ Piet Naude’s column about the tree, then I read about the houses being built near Van Stadens. "How many more trees must go?”

THEFT AT FUNERAL

CORA Adock I can understand you being upset that wallets were stolen at a funeral service at St John’s Anglican Church. It seems you are filled with hatred, vengeance and righteous indignation! Where is the love? Stealing a wallet at a funeral is no worse than some of the dishonesty, hypocrisy and abuse that takes place from within the church – the so called Body of Christ!

CLEAN-UP SCHEME

JEFF Bratby, you have wonderful pipe dreams, my friend. I can tell you now there will be no money for these dreams. The municipality fritters away what there is on wasteful and useless projects.

DOG RUN OVER

PAUL Glover slams the motorist who ran over and killed his beloved dog. Condolences to you, Paul. The fact of the matter is your dog should have been safely and securely confined to your yard and not have had an opportunity to get out in the first place. Regrettably, there was an element of negligence from within your quarters and the dog’s death was a result of negligence on the part of the dog owner. If the motorist’s vehicle sustained damage you, as the dog owner, would be legally liable for the costs of repairing that damage. The motorist owes you nothing, as your dog is your responsibility! Dog owners "love” their dogs, but yet they allow them to get out and run in the streets. I don’t apologise here, but dog owners should stop pointing fingers at motorists because the blame lies with you. Roads are for vehicles.

LANCE ARMSTRONG DOPING

YOU can bet your last pair of underpants that most of the guys were using substances. Sport today is bristling with this type of cheating.

DOC

BRENT CUNNINGHAM

BRENT Cunningham trying to commit suicide with tin foil. Is it a cry for sympathy? What happened to your bread knife?
