EP rush to T20 victory

JON-JON Smuts slammed a powerful 52 off 47 balls to set up Eastern Province for a comfortable seven-wicket victory over North West in their CSA Provincial Twenty20 cricket match at Axxess St George's yesterday.

After restricting the visitors to 114 for seven in their 20 overs, EP raced to victory with an over to spare in their first match of the T20 competition.

Interestingly, Warriors fast bowler Rusty Theron made an appearance for the EP side after a lengthy injury layoff and returned a satisfactory one for 29 in his four overs.
