IF YOU missed out on buying a classic or vintage sports car at the World of Wheels Motor Fair auction in December, don't fret!
The motor fair and auction was held in conjunction with the Eastern Cape Veteran Car Club and a much needed R30000 was raised for Port Elizabeth charities.
Now another prestigious auction by the Knysna-based House of Classic & Sports Cars is in the final stages of planning and will be held at the Midas George Old Car Show on February 9.
Funds raised for charity at this event are expected to top the previous figure. The main recipient is Reach for a Dream. The auction will take place at 1pm at PW Botha College, York Street, George.
About 25 cars are expected to be auctioned and entries submitted include two 1936 Ford Roadsters, an Austin Healey, 1958 MGA Roadster, 1940 Packard Touring Sedan, 1930 Ford Roadster, 1929 Chev Phaeton, 1934 Plymouth 4-door Sedan, 1936 Chev Pick-Up, 1958 Mercedes 190 SL, 1933 Chev 2-door Sedan, 1979 Mercury Cougar, 1978 Rover, 1930 Ford Model A Sedan, 1973 Rover V8, 1930 Ford Model A Phaeton, 1931 Ford Model A Roadster, and a 1965 Mercedes 220 SEB.
Anyone wishing to bid at the auction must register between 9am and 12.30pm at the Protea VIP tent. According to the organisers, House of Classic & Sports Cars is committed to ensuring a smooth-running auction and there is therefore a strict policy of "No Bidder's Card, no bidding".
A R3000 refundable deposit is payable upon registration by electronic transfer, bank-guaranteed cheque or credit card. No cash deposits will be accepted.
No late bids or offers will be entertained.
