Three metro bosses still off - on full pay

SITHEMBELE Vatala, the man employed to drive the Nelson Mandela Bay's development plan, has been on suspension for 14 months.

Roland Williams, the city's chief spokesman, has also spent the last five months and 27 days on suspension.

Dumisani Mbebe, the director of constituency services, has been on sick leave for five months, allegedly since discovering there were plans to suspend him.

By law, the municipality is meant to institute and wrap up disciplinary procedures against offending employees within three months.

These are three key managers – still on full pay – in an administration that is already severely compromised by staff shortages and a lack of efficient management.
