THE Asset Forfeiture Unit will ask the Port Elizabeth High Court later this month to finalise an order freezing the assets of the former trustees of the Bethelsdorp Development Trust (BDT), ANC councillor Joy Seale and her husband Gary, who according to papers before court benefited from the alleged theft of R4-million in trust money.
The application was to be heard yesterday but the Sheriff of the High Court did not serve the order, obtained in December, on former trustee Robert Gallagher in time. It will now be heard on February 19.
The court will also hear an opposed application by Ronald Niegaardt and Gallagher on February 28 to compel the curator who is now in charge of their respective estates, Shawn Williams from KPMG, to pay their lawyers so that they can prepare for their criminal trial.
