Rasta pupil back in school

A UITENHAGE pupil will finally start high school today after already missing the first three weeks – because of his dreadlocks.

Sinothando Booi, 14, a Rastafarian, was reinstated at VM Kwinana Secondary School yesterday after a march by about 500 Congress of South African Students (Cosas) members and the Rastafarian community to the KwaNobuhle school.

The group, including pupils from eight schools, sang freedom songs as they marched to the school under the supervision of police shortly after 9am.
