Get ready for this year’s Herald VW Cycle Tour

ON Sunday, thousands of cyclists will participate in the road leg of this year’s 106km Herald VW Cycle Tour.

The field for the exciting endurance race will include top cyclists such as Charles Keey and Kevin Evans.

Registration takes place from 9am till 9pm today on the exhibition level of the Boardwalk Convention Centre.

SEVERAL roads around Nelson Mandela Bay will be closed for Sunday’s Herald VW Cycle Tour race:

All Routes: Hobie Beach – Marine Drive 3am (closure time), 1.15pm (opening time)

All Routes: Walmer Boulevard 5.45am, 8.45am

All Routes: Heugh Road through 6th Ave Walmer 6am, 9am

All Routes: Buffelsfontein Road through William Moffett 6am, 9.30am

55/106km Route: Turn right into Old Seaview Road 6.15am, 9.30am

55/106km Routes: Link Road 6.15am, 11.30am

55/106km Routes: Old Seaview Road into Seaview Road 6.15am, 11.30am

106km Route: Clarendon Marine 6.30am, 9.30am

106km Route: 5km Hill/Seaview Road 6.30am, 9.30am

106km Route: Turn into Altona School road 6.45am, 10am

106km Route: Draaifontein Road – Fairview race course 6.50am, 10am

106km Route: Top of Maitland Hill 7am, 10.15am

106km Route: Turn from Beachview Road into Seaview Road 7.15am, 10.45am

106km Route: Bushy Park 6.15am, 11am

55/106km Routes: Seaview Road into Heron Road 6.15am, 11.30am

55/106km Routes: Sardinia Bay Road into Victoria Drive 7.30am, 12 noon

All Routes: Schoenmakerskop 7.30am, 12 noon

All Routes: Noordhoek 7.30am, 12.45pm

All Routes: Marine Drive finish line 3am, 1.15pm 

FULL road closure will be in effect from Hobie Beach along Marine Drive for the family events on Saturday morning.

First sprint prime opposite Builder’s Warehouse on Buffelsfontein Road – 10.7km

On top of the Mount Pleasant Hill on Buffelsfontein Road – 13.8km

Long Barn on Old Seaview Road – 15.3km

Seaview Village – 31km

First King of the Mountains hotspot on top of 5K Hill on Seaview Road – 36km

Second sprint prime at Altona Primary School – 42.6km

Second King of the Mountains hotspot on top of the Maitland Hill climb – 59.5km

Old Cash Store on Sardinia Bay Road – 81.6km
