Nigeria aim for an upset

01 February 2013
NIGERIA'S Super Eagles are on a mission to cause a major upset by knocking favourites Ivory Coast out of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) soccer tournament in Rustenburg on Sunday.

Nigeria and the Elephants meet in what is expected to be a quarterfinal thriller at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama pulled no punches, saying: "Ivory Coast have reached the end of the road. We are going to attack them because we also want to make a name for ourselves.

"We are not intimidated by [Ivory Coast's] world-class players. It will be great to play against top players like Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Gervinho, Kolo Toure and Didier Zokora."

Ivory Coast coach Sabri Lamouchi is expected to recall the likes of Yaya Toure, Gervinho, Siaka Tiene and Didier Zokora.

Victor Moses, who scored both goals in Nigeria's 2-0 win over Ethiopia on Tuesday, said: "We know that many people are not giving us a chance, but we will cause an upset." – Ramatsiyi Moholoa
