Traffic officials not on the job

THE municipal court at the PE traffic department is a joke. I went there on Wednesday at 1.30pm, only to be told at inquiries that the court officials were on lunch until 2pm.

I went back at 2pm, only to find the building deserted. There were others waiting in line. At 2.20pm, one official strolled in with her shopping bags and promptly closed the office door behind her. A while later, a gentleman strolled in and also disappeared behind closed doors.

By this time, everyone in the queue agreed that they could not wait indefinitely as there were no notices up indicating whether the court was in fact operating or not. Most people appeared to have been there to make representation to the public prosecutor, who was nowhere to be found.

Telephone inquiries to the number listed in the latest directory also went unanswered. I had to return to work and explain my long absence, yet these officials get to take extended lunch hours at the expense of the ratepayers.
