ON January 11, I attended the cricket test at St George’s Park.
I accidentally left my camera in one of the toilets next to the swimming pool, outside the cricket grounds. I tried for two hours to find someone on the grounds who could direct me to the person in charge of the cleaners – no-one could help me!
Finally, I found someone under one of the trees, asked him and luck had it that he was the right person – Tembesile Fumba, from Lighton Enterprises, who supply the cleaning services to St George’s Park.
I explained the problem to him and he immediately knew who was responsible for the toilets. He called the cleaner, whose name was Vuyo. When he was asked about the camera, Vuyo knew about it. He had found the camera and had put it in the locker room. It was promptly returned to me, intact.
Considering the number of people around on that day, I want to commend Vuyo’s honesty and help.
It is indeed a rarity these days.
