PEARSON registered a decisive 75-run win over Westering in their annual schools cricket clash at Westering in Port Elizabeth at the weekend.
Westering won the toss and asked the visitors to bat. The home side's opening bowlers, Sheldon de Ridder and Irshaad Potgieter, bowled superb spells with the new ball and had Pearson in trouble at 28/2 after 12 overs.
Pearson's Josh Dodd then took control of the situation with a well-played 61. With support from the middle order, he enabled Pearson to reach a decent total of 180 in the 49th over.
The Pearson attack, led brilliantly by Brydon Carse, had the Westering batsmen under pressure from the outset. Carse picked up 2/14 in eight overs as Westering struggled to 44/5.
Keagan Bouwer restored some respectability to the Westering total with 47, but Pearson stayed in control to dismiss their opponents for 105. Other leading bowlers were Deyano Klaasen (3/30) and Mihlali May (2/12).
