School wins first battle to keep going

THE Port Elizabeth High Court ordered the immediate reinstatement of exam accreditation to independent school Ed-U-College yesterday.

This came amid allegations of malicious and reckless conduct by Eastern Cape Department of Education officials in papers before the court.

Ed-U-College chief executive Lillian Niemann said yesterday she believed the decision to revoke the school's accreditation was severely flawed.

The department conceded yesterday that it had failed to follow procedure when it cancelled the accreditation of Ed-U-College as an examination centre.
