Injuries are hampering Kings' preparation

THE expected absence of several top players will take much of the sting out of what had promised to be an explosive showdown between the Southern Kings and the MTN Lions in the Lions Challenge match at Ellis Park on Saturday.

The match had been billed as a revenge clash in which the aggrieved Lions would attempt to put the upstart Kings in their place.

But news that Kings skipper Luke Watson, star flyhalf Demetri Catrakilis and lock Steven Sykes are all unlikely to play will take much of the fire out of the contest. The Kings team has not been named due to a number of players sustaining minor injuries that must be evaluated and attended to.
