Who is ripping us off?

SO the developers of the SKA radio telescope believe that Eskom's 16% per annum price hikes are reasonable ("Eskom's price hike reasonable – SKA", January 21). Well why shouldn't they believe so?

They will get their running costs from governments (US, UK, Germany, South Africa, etc), who in turn tax Joe Public. And, of course Eskom will provide at a great discount.

Currently Eskom supplies electricity at 68c/KW. The last time I looked, I was paying 105c/KW and have to pay VAT on it, so that pushes the price up to more than 119c/KW.

So who is ripping me off? Eskom or the municipalities?
