End in sight for teacher crisis?

THE beleaguered Eastern Cape Education Department will make an announcement tomorrow that could effectively put an end to the critical teacher shortage that has hit a number of schools.

The department approached the Treasury Department about two weeks ago begging for cash to hire more teachers, and tomorrow’s announcement is expected to shed light on whether or not they were successful.

Provincial education boss Mthunywa Ngonzo declined to comment before a media briefing tomorrow.
