Fix roads, street lights

14 February 2013

I HAVE written countless letters and sent a number of photos to the metro, councillors and The Herald about lights not working, roads flooding and potholes. Some response to potholes is encouraging, but lighting remains a big problem on the freeways and especially on Strandfontein Road and at the intersection with La Roche.

Six out of seven lights at that intersection do not work. Will they be fixed only after a fatal accident?

They have been reported twice to the call centre.

The recent flooding outside the Sasol garage in Strandfontein Road at the top of Second Avenue has only happened since the road was widened. The engineers failed to get the levels correct so the water attempts to run into the drain that is higher than the road level!

They should be made to correct the problem.

Please clean the drains and fix the lights – it’s not too much to ask, we are paying our rates.

If there is some silly excuse like "we have run out of bulbs”, then make every second one work at least.
