AS the world reeled yesterday in the wake of lauded Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius’s arrest for murder after the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, the glamorous model’s Port Elizabeth family were in a state of utter shock and disbelief.
Distraught friends and former associates of the blonde cover girl and law graduate, who was raised, educated and launched her modelling career in the city, were left stunned as news of her violent death spread quickly.
Her tearful uncle, Michael Steenkamp said outside the victim’s parents’ Seaview home that while they were completely devastated and still waiting for hard facts, his niece’s dreams had been cut short but she was "now flying with the angels”.
