Fresh attacks hit out at Animal Welfare

AFTER a mysterious blogger accused the Port Elizabeth Animal Welfare Society (AWS) of killing hundreds of healthy animals, volunteers and visitors have come forward with similar claims.

The blog, which has been removed, accused the society of malpractice, euthanising animals for no reason, and showing a lack of interest about the homes to which dogs were sold.

In new developments, several former volunteers, including Johanette Smith, have said dogs fit for adoption were being euthanised.

The organisation was putting down 20 to 50 dogs a month, Smith said.
