TEENAGE try-scoring sensation Sergeal Petersen looks set to be thrown in at the deep end when the Southern Kings make their Super Rugby debut against Western Force on Saturday. With more than 30 000 fans expected at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, there will be no room for the faint-hearted as the underdog Kings bid to pull off an upset win against the Australians.

The 18-year-old Petersen boosted his chances of being named in the starting line-up when he scored a brilliant individualistic try as the Kings went down 30-27 in a pre-season warm-up against Griquas last Wednesday.

The Kings' hand might be forced because another candidate for the wing berth, the more experienced Michael Killian, has been sidelined by a broken arm. The team is expected to be named by their director of rugby Alan Solomons today.
