Kings teen star gets his debut chance

21 February 2013

SOUTHERN Kings rugby boss Cheeky Watson has described 18-year-old wonder wing Sergeal Petersen as a "special player". Watson's views are shared by former Springbok star Robbie Kempson, who believes Petersen is a mix of the great Danie Gerber and the mercurial Carel du Plessis, who was known as the "Prince of Wings".

Petersen, who was a schoolboy at Grey last year, says he has been fitting in nicely with the "big boys" since he was named in the Kings Super Rugby squad.

He gets his first taste of "big-time" professional rugby when he runs out into the red-hot cauldron of Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday to face Australia's Western Force in front of more than 30000 fans.
