Bay opens heart for burgled creche

THE hearts of Nelson Mandela Bay residents and businesses have gone out to the Port Elizabeth creche which has suffered a spate of burglaries – and a large number of people have pulled together to help.

The desperate plea for assistance came when The Herald published a story appealing to residents to help the Association for the Physically Disabled Day Care Centre in Addo Road, Motherwell, after they had been burgled 12 times since December. The creche was being stolen bit by bit as its contents disappeared.

School manager and therapist Karen Jakober, 30, said yesterday the response had been overwhelming. "We just really do not know what to say. It means such a lot to all of us.
