Racism storm over PE house

ANC councillors in Nelson Mandela Bay have vowed to fight a Constitutional Court order that a family must demolish part of their Summerstrand guesthouse saying the decision is based on "inhumane" apartheid-style legislation.

The angry councillors from the ANC – supported by the PAC, UDM, COPE and ACDP – have decided to write to members of parliament asking them to intervene and change the title deeds legislation dating back to 1934.

This comes as Access Guest House owners Perapanjakam (Pungee) and Persotam Naidoo were ordered by the Port Elizabeth High Court and then the Constitutional Court to demolish their multimillion-rand guesthouse in Seventh Avenue within three weeks or face jail.

I was angry this morning. To my right stood a Xhosa speaking woman with two children and to my left stood a Xhosa speaking woman with one child. Cardiff must be the armpit of the world with public toilets no better than those at King's Beach, and there we were, waiting at an arbitrary bus stop in sub-zero conditions for a bus that was late. Why? Because the children wanted to get to school and I wanted to get to work. Is that too difficult for you politicians to understand?
