IT all went according to script in EP Super A League cricket this weekend as Mecer NMMU1 and Maritime Motors Old Grey scored comfortable victories in their respective matches.

Old Grey and defending champions NMMU1 are both unbeaten and the title race will reach an exciting climax when the teams play each other at Freeplay Park on Saturday.

This past Saturday, Old Grey were up first against a potentially tricky opponent in SA Home Loans Union. But the Old Grey batsmen brought their A games along and dominated proceedings after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Openers Nic Emmett and Brett Thompson got among the home side bowlers and thrashed 157 for the first wicket which was the foundation for the total of 306 for six.

Emmett finished with 89 and Thompson 54 while Sean Adair clubbed 63 of his own.

Craig Geyer (37) and Ryno Hamilton (26) staged late resistance, but Terence Davis-Taylor took four for 19 as Union were dismissed for 171.

Yesterday NMMU1 hosted Northville at the campus with the Finnis Street side batting first.

Corbyn Dolley and Devon Adams took three wickets to restrict them to 134 for nine wickets.

NMMU1 made light work of the target, winning by nine wickets.

Eddie Moore fell five short of a century while Peter Furstenburg added 36 not out.
