Smith clinches test record in SA clean sweep

25 February 2013
Telford Vice

GRAEME Smith's champion team completed one of South Africa's most dominant home summers of test cricket in Centurion yesterday.

The Proteas won the third test against Pakistan by an innings and 18 runs with two days to spare to seal a 3-0 series whitewash.

Yesterday's result marks only the third time in SA's history that they have won all the matches in a series of at least three games.

Ali Bacher's side beat Australia 4-0 in 1969/70, and Hansie Cronje led SA to a 5-0 triumph over West Indies in 1998/99.
