Gordon's string of bizarre claims angers magistrate

26 February 2013
Kathryn Kimberley

WIFE beater accused Frederick Gordon's bizarre, unintelligible claims and ramblings angered the magistrate in his case yesterday, as the prosecution tore into him over his alleged brutal assault of estranged wife Avril.

With irate magistrate Chris Kruger berating Gordon for not focusing on what he was being asked, state Advocate Andre Kirchner and the accused squared off in the Port Elizabeth Regional Courtfor several hours, where between laughs and conspiracy theories, Gordon tried to convince the court of his version of events.

Kirchner told Gordon that when Avril had met him, she was an attractive woman but that he had left her body broken.

This time Gordon claimed the prosecutor was an impersonator and that Kruger had never followed court procedure and failed to swear in the witnesses. Kruger had to interject several times when Gordon went off on a rampage about The Herald, Die Burger, and his estranged wife dealing in drugs.

Cross-examination continues today.
