Pearson win weekend clash against DP

26 February 2013
PEARSON scored a comfortable six-wicket win over Daniel Pienaar in their annual schools cricket clash in Uitenhage at the weekend.

Batting first, DP slumped to 44/8 as Brydon Carse, Mihlali May (2/16), Deyano Klaasen (1/23) and Kyle Jacobs (2/12) put the skids under the home batsmen.

A late 26 by DP's André Potgieter helped his team to 81 before Carse (4/9) finished off the innings. Jacobs, 15, followed up his superb legspin bowling with a well-played 35 not out, opening the batting for the first time. He was well supported by Wade van Zyl as they put on 47 for the first wicket.

Carlo du Toit (2/16) was the pick of the DP bowlers as they fought hard to pick up four Pearson wickets.

THE Pearson under-15 team have shown outstanding form this year, stretching an unbeaten record which started as the u-14A side last year under the guidance of Michael van Rensburg.

The team were unbeaten in 2012 and have continued the trend this season, extending their winning streak with an eight-wicket win over Daniel Pienaar at the weekend.

Some of the highlights include an unbeaten 129 by Daniel Doyle last year and an unbeaten 110 by Cody Roberts this year. Jarod Peters has been the best bowler over the two seasons, having taken 20 wickets in 2012 alone in only seven games.

THE Pearson girls' team shone in their fixture in Uitenhage against Strelitzia, winning by 107 runs.

Pearson's Luzaan Potgieter smashed 16 fours and three sixes as she scored 107 not out in Pearson's 15-over total of 153/4.

Strelitzia could only managed 36/7, with Silizwe Tukani taking 2/11 and Lynette Upman 2/6.
